Beachfront Bike Along – Revitalizing Long Beach’s Beachfront Through Activation
Friday, June 9, 2023 | 12:15 PM – 1:30 PM
Price: Free, but separate sign-up is required. Limited to the first 30 people to sign up.
Long Beach was named for its 6 miles of accessible beachfront, but with the introduction of the federally-constructed breakwater during World War II, this ended waves, surfing, and major beachfront activities. The City has had a historic uphill battle attracting people to the beach, yet a recent revitalization effort has re-envisioned how the beach is activated introducing beach concession stands and operators, beach play areas and courts, and a floating water playground along with upgrades to the beach walking and biking path. Join City staff for a curated beachfront bike ride to view the new improvements and hear from the staff that helped implement them.
