ICMA Skywaukee Tour

Join Historic Milwaukee for a stroll through the Avenue and the 1.75-mile skywalk system. Originally constructed in 1916 and significantly expanded in the early 1980s, the Grand Avenue Mall eventually suffered the same fate as many downtown shopping centers – empty storefronts and financial hardship. In 2018, plans for the Avenue were unveiled to transform the mall to include apartments, a food hall, retail, office space and more. The tour will explore partnerships, preservation strategies, important insights and Milwaukee history, all keys to this successful project.

Historic Milwaukee, Inc. was founded in 1974 and is dedicated to increasing awareness of and commitment to Milwaukee’s architecture, history, and the built environment.
